GIFTS Men's Shelter

What we've discovered is that the guys we've come to know and love are regular folks.  They are normal people who've just happened to run into some hard luck.

Every one is a unique individual and God has blessed each of them in His own way.  One gentleman in particular has a special gift, the gift of artistry.  Michael is a very talented musician and a poet.  Several times a week, he may break out his guitar and serenade the group with songs of praise and uplifting melodies.

A sample of his writing is presented here so that you can come to know that Jesus is present in our lives, even when circumstances are tough.

HAVE FAITH

I’ve felt the pain in every part of my broken heart,
I’ve been left out even from the very start,
I seek no riches because I am poor,
I just want Jesus to open up His doors.

I’ve been broke down, talk down, so what else is even new,
I’ve been in pride, and I am still in stride, so what else is a man suppose to do?

Each day that comes and goes I’ve prayed that I am still alive,
Each day I think of what my will has done for me to help still survive,
Tomorrow today as nights becomes today and as ashes is to ashes,
As is dust is to dust when our time comes we won’t be able to make any fuss.

So be it as it may, thank our Lord Jesus Christ today,
For He has given most dearly what everyone on this earth has feared.
And he who is always first shall be last and he who is always last shall be first,
Now in the Holy Bible I’ve seen our Lord’s quote,
Please don’t take Jesus Christ for granted for the Son of Man and the Father is definitely not a joke.

All of the ten commandments that our Lord but put into Moses’ hands,
Basic instruction before leaving earth was God’s gift to the promise land,
But Jesus has risen up from the depths below,
Some have lost faith in not knowing which way that they should go.

And as we stand in the balance from the most high and the devil low,
Our Lord Jesus has given His life and the devil is still our biggest foe,
Inequities of us all who’ve faltered and sinned,
For the lack of our knowledge of Jesus Christ teaching our learning it must never come to an end,
Teach us to walk the balance of life,
Not to stray to the left nor even to the right,
Have mercy to us all king of all kings and summon us all so that we may hear,
So when you call us to your calling my Lord Your call shall be ever so clear.
