The men will leave the shelter for the last time, this season, on Sunday May 4th, 2008 from St. Mary's Church. It will be hard to say goodbye, but we must.
Rejeana Deviana, from The House of Mercy has led discussions on the challenges and opportunities that will come at that time. Over the next several weeks, we will make sure that our guests have access to a wide range of existing community resources that can help them with job hunting, living skills and other services that can help in the transition.
Please pray for us as we take the summer to regroup, plan and improve this ministry. We will be back in September, better than ever. If you have any suggestions or questions, please, please, please, contact us.
The G.I.F.T.S shelter is open and free to single men (18 years of age or older) needing a warm safe place to spend the night.
Check in is between 7:00PM and 10:00PM, 7 nights a week. After 10:00PM, guests will need a law enforcement officer escort to enter the shelter.
We will provide an evening meal at check-in and breakfast in the morning. A sack lunch will be provided to take with at exit in the morning. Check out is at either 7:30 AM or 8:00 AM, depending on the location.
During the initial check-in process, we will conduct a police background check. Any open wants or warrants, or recorded sex-offender status will prevent an applicant from taking advantage of this ministry.
Shelter, Sustenance, Spirituality.
